What floor is inside the tipis?

There is permanent wooden flooring within the Tipis, meaning there’s a solid base for high heels to walk and for people to dance on!

What happens if it rains?

This is probably the biggest and most important question we get asked, so we’ll break this down into two parts.

Regarding the ceremony, if you were planning to get wed in our outdoor ceremony area, we would be in close contact with you and your suppliers in the days leading up to your big day. If we had concerns that the weather may be an issue, we would look to bring the ceremony inside our Ceremony Tipi, which will be just as magical as in our outdoor ceremony area, and we would work with your suppliers to ensure it was set beautifully and to your expectations.

Regarding the reception and the rest of your wedding day, our 5 Tipis are made to withstand even the harshest of weather conditions. We have a clear PVC wall system which can be raised or lowered quickly to accommodate changes in the weather, meaning that even if the sides are lowered, the views of the forest and surrounding natural beauty will not be obscured. You can rest assured that rain or shine, you and your guests will be able to have the most magical wedding day.

Can we get married on-site?

Bowland Tipis is a fully approved premises for the solemnisation of marriages and the registration of civil partnerships. We have the option of performing ceremonies in either the outdoor ceremony area or within the Tipis themselves, depending on your preference.

It will be your responsibility to contact the Lancashire County Council Ceremonies Office (East) to arrange for a Registrar to attend on the date of your wedding, but we’ll be happy to advise on this process.

Do the Tipis have a bar?

Yes, we have a fully licensed, stocked, and staffed bar. If you have any special requirements for certain drinks or cocktails, this can be arranged ahead of your big day, just let us know what you fancy! We do not offer corkage.

What months are the Tipis able to be booked for weddings?

You can book a wedding in our Tipis from April to October each year, and they can be viewed during that timeframe too.

How do you manage the temperature in the Tipis?

We have heaters available to use in the cooler months, and during the summer, the clear PVC sides of our Tipis can be fully raised, allowing for extra ventilation.

Can we use our own suppliers?

Apart from catering, you are welcome to use suppliers of your choice. We would only ask that you keep us informed of the suppliers you intend to use, as we will need to contact them to arrange access times and will need to see a certificate of liability insurance from all suppliers. Any electrical equipment will need to have a valid PAT test.

We do have a list of recommended suppliers available if you are looking for some amazing, local suppliers.

What are your catering options?

We work solely with the fantastic Cheek & Tongue to provide catering for our events at Bowland Tipis. Visit our Food & Drink page for more information.

When can we start setting up for our wedding?

You and your chosen suppliers will have access to the site from 1pm on the day before your wedding. For example, if you are getting married on a Saturday, you will have access to the site from 1pm on the Friday.

Can we have a firework display?

Unfortunately, no - this is due to our proximity to Bowland Wild Boar Park, and any firework display could cause serious distress to their animals.

Can our guests leave their cars overnight?

Absolutely, we are fortunate to have a large car park conveniently situated near the Tipis and accommodation for your guests to leave their vehicles overnight. All we ask is that all cars are removed from the car park by 11am the day after your wedding.

Are dogs allowed?

As animal lovers, we are more than happy for your furry friends to be a part of your big day. There is also the option for them to stay with you in the on-site accommodation, at an extra cost.

Is there a finish time?

Last orders at the bar at 11:15pm. All music is to stop at 11:00pm, with all guests not staying on-site having left by midnight. Suppliers must collect all hired items by 11am the day after the wedding.

Any items left on site are at the owner’s risk - Bowland Tipis cannot accept liability for any loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings.
